il faut que je sois

A handmade book for the eleven photographs of the series ‘il faut que je sois’ (2010–2011). The book incorporates handwriting from a 19th century diary, cut-out and adapted to form the words printed here. Each photograph is presented as an hour on a clock: after the last it is the moment of change. The front and back covers show a design made from the three key objects featured in this series: the bowler hat, glasses and pocket watch from the artist's great-grandfather. The book is bound by hand, and the photographs , (taken with a Hasselblad 503CX) are handmade prints on silver-gelatin RC paper, inserted using photo corners.

Handmade prints inserted using photo corners; text printed digitally; book bound by hand.
LIMITED EDITION OF 2 AP (book: 25x25 cm; prints: 20x20cm)
