Dutch Centre, London

In two separate rooms at the Dutch Centre in London, Verhallen presented his series I, the Photograph and il faut que je sois. Photographs of the former were printed at life-like size and mounted on dibond, placed at eye-level for a direct contact with the viewer. Headphones in front of the images played a loop of the particular song that the person in the photograph was listening to at the moment of capturing the image. The eleven hand-made prints from negative of the il faut que je sois series are hung in sequence in the old library room, with a brief text explaining its narrative. The exhibition ran from October 2015 until January 2016.

I, the Photograph: Fine-art prints mounted on dibond; Sennheiser headphones connected to MP3-players; text mounted on foam-core boards.
il faut que je sois: Handmade prints from medium format negative on silver-gelatin RC paper, mounted in frames of various sizes.
